POWER MODES (OFFGRID /BOOST)
POWER MODES (OFFGRID /BOOST)
Two modes. One machine. Any outlet.
OFF-GRID Mode – 700W / 3A
For self-sufficient setups with limited inverters, solar systems, or campsites with weak power supply. Heat-up time is a bit longer, espresso and steam still work as usual, but just can no longer run simultaneously.
BOOST Mode – 1350W / 6A
Full power. 120 seconds to your first espresso. Heating and frothing at the same time. For home, the office, or higher-powered camper setups.
What's included
What's included
Every CAVI Core comes with an open portafilter, including plug-in single and double spouts, as well as single and double shot filter baskets. No unnecessary equipment, quick switching between single and double.
We also include all the basics: power cable, water tank, drip tray, and cleaning accessories.
You'll find additional accessories like tampers and milk pitchers in our shop, so you're never forced to buy something with the CAVI Core that you might already have.
* All technical specifications are based on the current development stage of the prototype and are provided without guarantee. We're confident in reaching these or better values in the final product, but reserve the right to make development-related changes to the machine design. The product photos show an advanced prototype. The final design will be revealed in autumn 2026.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Here we answer the most common questions about the CAVI Core. If you can't find an answer to yours, just write us at hello@cavi.coffee.
How small is the CAVI Core, really?
How small is the CAVI Core, really?
To our knowledge, the most compact full-featured espresso machine in the world, up to 12x smaller than conventional home machines, with full espresso and steam quality at barista level.
For some perspective: take a closed 13" laptop and stand it upright. The CAVI Core disappears completely behind it. Or take another look at the technical drawing above: there you'll spot a conventional espresso machine, with an A4 sheet and a 6.1" smartphone next to it for size comparison.
What will the CAVI Core cost?
What will the CAVI Core cost?
Since we're still optimizing the machine and continuously adding or replacing parts, we can't answer this question with complete certainty yet. We don't want to set any false expectations. We'll announce the final price before preorders begin.
Where can I buy the CAVI Core?
Where can I buy the CAVI Core?
To keep the CAVI Core fairly priced despite being made in Germany, using premium materials, and produced in small batches, we sell exclusively direct.
Every dealer margin would make the machine more expensive without adding any value to it, which is why we're skipping a traditional dealer network.
That said, we'll still be partnering with a few roasteries, van conversion shops, and cafés, so you can experience the machine in person, even if you're not in Munich.
Will there be a chance to experience the CAVI Core?
Will there be a chance to experience the CAVI Core?
Yes, definitely. We're planning events, collaborations, and pop-ups, so you can see it for yourself. We'll always announce where and when on our social media channels.
You're also welcome to stop by in Munich for an espresso anytime, just send us a quick message first.
Don't small machines tip over when you insert the portafilter?
Don't small machines tip over when you insert the portafilter?
Yes, that's true, and it's often one of the biggest criticisms of compact espresso machines.
That's why, instead of the bayonet lock used in almost every espresso machine, we use a vertically acting locking mechanism. Insert the portafilter, push the lever down, and you're ready to go.
Does the CAVI Core have two separate circuits for brewing and steam?
Does the CAVI Core have two separate circuits for brewing and steam?
Since the term 'dual-boiler' is reserved for boiler-based machines in expert circles, we call it Dual Thermoblock Technology.
The result is the same though: two separate circuits for brew group and steam, available at any time, in parallel. No switching, no waiting to heat up. Always the perfect parameters for the task at hand.
How do I clean the machine?
How do I clean the machine?
The whole machine is designed so you can clean it in just a few steps. Every surface that comes into contact with coffee is freely accessible and can simply be wiped down. A damp cloth is all it takes.
The CAVI Core is also far less prone to limescale than other machines, since water never sits still anywhere. It's only ever heated on the fly and flushed automatically after every brew.
The tank and drip tray are removable and dishwasher-safe. We also include a blind filter and descaling solution, so you can easily descale the machine using Cleaning Mode.
How can I configure the machine?
How can I configure the machine?
With our configurator, you can build the CAVI Core exactly the way you want it. To start, there will likely be three housing colors, three wood types for the handles, and the option to configure a pure espresso machine without a steam wand.
We're sure more combinations will be added later. We're looking forward to your ideas and feedback.
Where is the CAVI Core made?
Where is the CAVI Core made?
Since the first prototype, we've built a great network of suppliers, all of whom we know personally. Short distances, direct communication, and some of these collaborations have turned into real friendships.
Want a few examples?
Our machined parts are milled by Lake Simssee, right next to a cow pasture. The housing is hand powder-coated by a bike manufacturer in Rosenheim. And the wooden handles are turned in a basement workshop in the Chiemgau region.
Assembled, tested, and prepared for its first espresso, the CAVI Core is then finished by us in Munich.
Can I adjust pressure and temperature?
Can I adjust pressure and temperature?
No, and that's intentional. We see espresso as complex, but solvable in a pragmatic way. So both are precisely preset and controlled exactly via PID. The parameters that actually matter lie elsewhere: beans, grind size, tamping. You take care of those, the CAVI Core handles the rest.
Although... we may already have a solution for that soon.
Is there a matching grinder?
Is there a matching grinder?
In theory, you can use almost any grinder on the market with the CAVI Core baskets. Only some grind-by-weight grinders may have issues fitting the basket properly.
The CAVI Core uses standard 51 mm baskets, so if you want to buy additional accessories like a dosing funnel, tamper, or puck screen, just make sure they match this size.
Little spoiler: we might have something in the works on the grinder side as well.
